Julien Grossmann and Giuseppe Licari in TENT

Two new exhibitions will open in TENT on Thursday 16 March: Customs and Claims from Julien Grossmann and Schlak by Giuseppe Licari in TENT. Both exhibitions can be seen until May 14. During the opening DJ Love on the Beat will play records.

Seven Tears - Susan Philipsz

On Thursday 23 March, a new sound artwork by Scottish artist Susan Philipsz will be unveiled on the square under the Erasmus Bridge. Prior to the reveal, the 18e edition of the Z-Files place in Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, with a lecture and interview with the artist.

Short Cut Wheat District

In Short Cut Tarwewijk, local residents and guests walk through Tarwewijk in a straight line. The walk starts at 25 March at 14 hour on the corner of Mijnsherenlaan and Dordtselaan and ends at the Pleinweg. The walk takes approximately 40 minutes. Children are also welcome.

Giuseppe Licari

Giuseppe Licari stayed in Boise, Idaho in the United States in 2016 where he focused on his fascination with nature and the influence people have on it. He made his trip with the help of an R&D subsidy from CBK Rotterdam. On the blog he tells more about his stay in Boise.

Anne Wenzel - Re-defining Balance

Marieke van der Lippe made a documentary (2016) about the creation of the eight meter high fountain, Re-defining Balance by Anne Wenzel before the court in Zwolle. The film, which can be seen on ArtTube, was made possible in part with a financial contribution from CBK Rotterdam and the Overijssel District Court.

Guiseppe Licari

In the solo exhibition Schlak Guiseppe Licari shows his research into the relationship between man and nature. In one of the most important mining areas of the European steel industry, he collected as a geologist the rocks that remain as a residual product after the iron has been melted with 1535˚C.

Garage Café #3

Garage Rotterdam and the WdKA Fine Arts Department are jointly organizing the 3rd edition of the Garage Café, on Thursday April 6 at Garage Rotterdam. For the Garage Café, artists are invited to present new works or to test (performance) ideas in front of a real audience. Send your proposal before 21 March to info@garagerotterdam.nl, stating Open Call.

Julien Grossmann

Sculptural sound works play a leading role in this first solo exhibition by Julien Grossmann in the Netherlands. Grossmann ingeniously transforms musical instruments and sound equipment, draws on sound recordings from the beginning of the 20 century to the present, and makes surprising connections with histories of culture and globalization.

5 could see the words HERE and THERE in neon light on the ventilation buildings of the Maas tunnel on either side of the Maas for years. The light work was a temporary intervention at this location and can now be seen in the exhibition Our Tunnel in the Kunsthal.
