CBK Rotterdam Annual overview 2016

In the annual overview you can see and read which activities were organized by the programs of CBK Rotterdam in 2016. In his foreword, director Ove Lucas emphasizes the importance of artists for the city:  "In a world undergoing major, often dramatic changes - demographic, technological, political, social and economic - the artist's perspective is not only welcome, but much needed."

Jana Beranová's poem returned to Square 1940

The 14 May poem by Jana Beranová (city poet 2009-2010) is back. The poem was applied to the Maritime Museum, and was absent for a few years.
It has since been reapplied on a large surface, to a design by Bart Oppenheimer. Every year the city poet of Rotterdam writes a poem for the commemoration of the bombing of Rotterdam.

Works of art from Rotterdam to Art Zuid in Amsterdam

From 19 May to 17 September 2017 is the fifth International Sculpture Biennial Amsterdam: ART SOUTH 2017. The manifestation on the Apollolaan, Minervalaan and Zuid-As shows sixty sculptures this year. The art route has three Rotterdam works of art, by Joost Baljeu, Piet Killaars and Gust Romijn, who have been relocated especially for the occasion.

Deadlines R&D contribution and CBK Fonds Kwadraat

In 2017 it is also possible to take out a loan through CBK Fonds Kwadraat, a collaboration between CBK Rotterdam and Fonds Kwadraat: the deadline for this is May 19. The second round of CBK Rotterdam's Development and Research Contribution will also close on this day at 23 p.m. The conditions for both schemes can be found at Rotterdamsekunstenaars.nl.

Off Screen #03 with Wendelien van Oldenborgh in WORM

25/05/17

Off screen is the stage for audio-visual productions in Rotterdam. Wendelien van Oldenborgh is a guest at the table on 25 May to talk about her presentation Cinema Olanda (made possible with a contribution from CBK Rotterdam) in the Rietveld pavilion at the Venice Biennale. The presentation of Off Screen #3 is owned by Marieke van der Lippe and Christiaan van Schermbeek.

CBK R'DAM makes possible

Route du Nord

Route du Nord is a nomadic art exhibition in Rotterdam Noord. The Central exhibition (on the Vijverhofstraat) will be curated this year by guest curator Piet de Jonge. Also this year, the CBK Rotterdam has invited various visual artists to be part of this exhibition. With work by Sander Bokkinga, Said Kinos and Nuno Viegas, Shafelly Snijders and Hester Terpstra (A Lightwork) and Mia Andrésen.

Every Friday evening, from 18.00 pm to 21.00 pm, it is Art Evening! Visit TENT, Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art, Showroom MAMA, V2_ Institute for Unstable Media and WORM for free. In TENT Rotterdam Cultural Histories #10: Naum Gabo to see. At 19: 00 hour the Kunstblock Tour starts: A high-speed tour of 1 hour through a number of art institutions. Les Petites Peurs

During the art route South Explorer is in the Japanese cultural center Shofukan the exhibition Les Petites Peurs on display by the Rotterdam artist SPAM van Griensven. A large collection of small lifelike animal figures can be admired in a Wunderkammer, or cabinet of curiosities. SPAM van Griensven's recent work is inspired by Japanese myths in which the fox takes on a human form.

Rotterdam Cultural Histories #10: Naum Gabo

up to and including 28 / 05 / 17

The 10e edition of Rotterdam Cultural Histories is about Naum Gabo. The work of this Russian-American artist (1890-1977) can be found on the Rotterdam Coolsingel. The exhibition gives an impression of the history of this constructivist sculpture through preliminary designs, visual material of the unveiling and documentation.

BLUEPRINT: Whose urban appropriation is this?

The Metro54 collective presents BLUEPRINT: Whose urban appropriation is this?, a multidisciplinary group exhibition and public program about the relationship between street culture and architecture in TENT Rotterdam. Metro54 invited architects, designers, rappers, producers and artists to show work that investigates and imagines the relationship between architecture and street culture.

Poetry + Art Gallery Tour in TENT

On Friday 2 June and on Saturday 3 June, the poets nominate Mookie Katigbak, Cheri + Jefferson and the winner of the C'Buddingh prize in TENT as the conclusion of the Poetry + Art Gallery Tour. The free tours start at 13: 30 hours at the Ro Theater and lead you through art and poetry at various places in the city to TENT, where the talks begin at 15: 30 hours.

Toonderbeeld is back

On Tuesday 2 May – the 105th birthday of the Rotterdam-born cartoonist Marten Toonder – the 'Toonder Monument' of the Artoonists returned to back in town† The work, formally titled Homage Marten Toonder, was temporarily stored in connection with work on the underground bicycle shed at Blaak Station. It has now been refurbished by the Zuliani company, placed back and playfully initiated by The Artoonists.
