Museum Night Rotterdam

On Saturday 5 March, museums and cultural institutions in the city will open their doors in the evening. Two exhibitions can be viewed in TENT: the group exhibition Spending Quality Time with My Quantified Self en The Back Room - Paul Beckman: the first part of a collaboration between TENT and Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen.

On Sunday 6 and Sunday 20 March, Sculpture International Rotterdam offers another tour of the Coolsingel with architecture guide Marly Weemen. Central to this walk are the highlights from the SIR collection, including reconstruction art, architecture and dozens of ornaments.

CBK Rotterdam celebrates with Rotterdam Celebrates The City, including a large indoor exhibition, a pop-up outdoor exhibition, a book about the visual history of Rotterdam, Z-Files XL and the Mapping Rotterdam light event. The events will take place in the spring of 2016.

Watching art with children

In the television program What do you see? on RTV Rijnmond, program maker Ian Pieters and a number of children will visit the reconstruction art in Rotterdam. The episodes are broadcast every Wednesday. The series is made possible by CBK Rotterdam.

Grab a chair with ... Noor Mertens

Noor Mertens is curator at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, and presented the exhibition The Back Room - Paul Beckman together. On Wednesday 9 March (at 12:30 pm), she will tell about the life of Paul Beckman in half an hour, based on remarkable anecdotes and the furniture sculptures from the exhibition in TENT.

Z-Files #14: Louis Davids and the Jewish past of Rotterdam

The relocated and partly renovated monument for Louis Davids will be unveiled in front of the Timmerhuis on 24 March at 16: 00 hours. Following this unveiling a special edition of the Z-Files about this famous Rotterdam singer, the artist Mathieu Ficheroux and about the Jewish neighborhood in Rotterdam.

At the end of March, artist Egied Simons will start the implementation of a project for the client Trompenburg Tuinen & Arboretum. In the arboretum, Simons will make a number of installations that show the root growth of various plants. The first results can be seen from May.

Therapy Session

In an intensive session with lectures, performances and a water sound concert on Thursday evening, 24 March, artists, thinkers and the public dissect the interaction between the human body and digital technology in the Therapy Session event, starting at 20: 00 hour at TENT.

Z-Files #15: Bild, oder ...?

SIR presents a new video edition of Willem Oorebeek, which he based on the 604 possible meanings of The Individual Parallel - Bilderberg Utopia. The edited work will be presented on March 31 in the Bilderberg Parkhotel; afterwards Oorebeek explains in the lecture "Bild, or ...?" about his own role as an artist in public space.

Mapping Rotterdam

In the context of Rotterdam Celebrates the City two reconstruction works of art are highlighted in a special way. Hugo Vrijdag developed a projection for the New Delftse Poort (1995) from Cor Kraat, and Afterlight wakes up The birds from Jan Bezemer back to life. The projections can be seen three evenings.

New round R&D contribution

13/05/16

The awards for the first R&D round of 2016 will be announced shortly. The Development and Research Grants scheme aims to boost research and deepening, so that existing artist practices can develop optimally and their visibility is increased. The second round of this year closes on May 2.
