Rotterdam celebrates the City

This spring, events are taking place throughout Rotterdam that celebrate the completion of 75 years of reconstruction and look ahead to the future of our city. CBK Rotterdam is celebrating with light events, art routes, the exhibition Utopian Dreams in TENT, the pop-up sculpture park Uproot Rotterdam and much more.

Utopian Dreams

Collector and former museum director Reyn van der Lugt contributes Utopian Dreams contemporary fantasies of the future about Rotterdam together. With work by Wim Gijzen, Claes Oldenburg, Rem Koolhaas - OMA, John Körmeling, Atelier van Lieshout, Utopia and Elfie Tromp, Han Hoogerbrugge, Elian Somers, Richard Hutten and the architectural collective Cookies.

Mariette Dölle to Kranenburgh

Mariette Dölle is leaving as artistic director of TENT, where she was artistic director from 2006. As of 1 June 2016, Dölle will become director of Kranenburgh in Bergen, a museum for contemporary art with a permanent collection of works belonging to the Bergen School.

The Back Room - Charly van Rest

In the four-part solo exhibition series The Back Room, TENT and Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen show underexposed but iconic Rotterdam artists. The oeuvre of Charly van Rest (1949) includes assemblies, photos, collages, sculptures and installations.

SIR tour on the Coolsingel

From 1 May new Coolsingel walks in which the masterpieces from the SIR collection are central: from reconstruction art to architecture and dozens of ornaments. The SIR tour on the Coolsingel shows the past, present and possible future of this boulevard in 1,5 hours. Dates: May 1, May 15, May 29.

Die Stadt von Aussen Betrachtet

07/05/16 - 02/06/16

Five former participants of the two residency programs of the Goethe-Institut Rotterdam (Inge Paeßens, Thomas Rustemeyer, Juliane Schmidt, Antje Seeger, Su-Ran Sichling) present a versatile and very subjective view of the city from the outside. On May 7, they will explain their work in conversation with Ernest van der Kwast. This project is made possible in part by CBK Rotterdam.

Art evening

On Friday 6 May it will be Art Night again, and Kunstblock institutions TENT, Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art, Showroom MAMA, V2_ Institute for the Unstable Media and WORM are open for free between 18 and 21. Two exhibitions can be seen that evening in TENT: Utopian Dreams en The Back Room: Charly van Rest.

Second round R&D contribution

From 2016, the R&D scheme will have three rounds instead of four. The 2016 form has also been changed and applications can only be submitted digitally as PDF via WeTransfer be delivered. KleinpolderpleinPARK

On Saturday 16 April, the artists' collective Observatorium and the Kleinpolder Work Community Foundation dreamed aloud for a day about a dreamed future for the Kleinpolderplein through performances, visual arts and music.
