Anton Vrede will present his new publication on Friday 15 September at 17.00 pm Works 2014 – 2022 in Storyhouse Belvédère. That day he also starts an artist-in-residency for three months in the Elenbaashuis, where Verhalenhuis Belvédère is located.

As described by Hein Meijers (website Anton Vrede), the work of Anton Vrede “consists of drawings, bronze statuettes, graphics, paintings, sketches, serigraphs and illustrations, and is part of collections of banks, funds, ministries and hospitals, among others. He himself describes his work as an 'osmosis between abstract expressionist and romantic figurative'. Anton Vrede tries to appropriate reality. However, the figuration must remain visible. The use of mainly light and vibrant tones reflects his Caribbean heritage. Animals often appear in his work; pink elephants float by, parrots and hornbills stand back to back with beaks raised, cats and tigers prowl.”
