FILM: 'Big water travels along the Nieuwe Maas'

Traveled in the fall big water (2021) by visual artist Maud van den Beuken along the Nieuwe Maas. Commissioned by BKOR, the artwork questions our relationship to the river on both a local and global scale. Who is responsible? Various policy makers, artists, environmental activists, residents, water management experts and dredgers entered into a dialogue to investigate the Nieuwe Maas as a non-human life form and the possibility of its own legal personality. Filmmaker Pia van den Beuken has captured this project in a short film that takes you along in this series of conversations and encounters.
