TENT Welcomes: Wet Lounge # 5

Film: 14 / 02 / 2020
Location: TENT

WET Lounge is a series of five experimental screenings, compiled by WET collective (Anna Maria Luczak, Erika Roux, Marta Hryniuk, Nick Thomas and Sophie Bates).

Each edition shows makers who operate between video and cinema, stretching out the idea of what 'cinematic work' can entail with performance, music or forms of installation. In doing so, WET uses TENT as a leeway between the common experience that cinema offers and the spatial experiment that is possible in the visual arts.
The video works presented at WET Lounge # 5 explore the relationships between characters on the screen, played by the artists themselves, friends, amateurs, and professional actors. Through performances, role play, replay and rehearsal, the artists struggle and question identities, problems concerning representation, hierarchical power structures and stereotypes; which brings the complex relationship between character and performer to the surface.

With work by: Sophie Bates, Irina Botea, Keren Cytter, Maya Schweizer & Auto Italia Live (installation)
