Rotterdam Cultural Histories #9: Manifesta 1 Revisited

exhibition: 08 / 09 / 2016 - 31 / 12 / 2016
Location: TENT

Rotterdam Cultural Histories #9 looks back on Manifesta 1, the first edition of the traveling European biennial that took place in Rotterdam in June-August 1996. With the help of never-before-seen archive material and video material, this edition of Rotterdam Cultural Histories shed light on the creation of the first Manifesta and the works that were shown there.

Rotterdam Cultural Histories is a collaboration between TENT and Witte de With, with which their common roots are explored in Rotterdam and the interfaces between the two programs are shown. Rotterdam Cultural Histories was set up by Defne Ayas (director Witte de With) and Mariette Dölle (former artistic director TENT).
