The new (temporary) artwork will be on 11 September 2020 Precious by Judy van Luyk unveiled in Dresden. The Rotterdam artist has created a temporary work of art for a very prominent building. This building, right in the center of Dresden, has stood empty for 30 years and is now finally being renovated. The artwork accentuates the building in its current status. During the renovation, two gigantic photo banners cover the façades of the building on Sidonienstrasse.
The banners show a half-broken wall with the word: Kostbar (precious). The contrast between the two raises the question of whether something that is broken can also be costly. In this way, the work is a statement that something can be broken, but does not necessarily lose its value. The building at 18 Sidonienstrasse and its history is precious and deserves to be renovated.
September 11, 2020, Sidonienstrasse 18, Dresden.
On display until June 2021.
