NOA Water pavilion

These activities have been canceled due to the current corona measures.

NOA, Nomadic Overnight Aquatecture, is a 9 meter high temporary pavilion that was built in the Semiramistuin in Oosterflank (Prins Alexander), on the spot 6 meters below sea level. The pop-up meeting place and cultural stage had to challenge visitors to reflect on the consequences of climate change through theater performances, workshops and lectures.

CBK Rotterdam contributed to the realization of the pavilion.

About NOA
NOA stands for 'Nomadic Overnight Aquatecture' and was designed by Studio Kortmann. The pavilion is movable, can be quickly set up and dismantled and has water as a central theme. NOA is made up of a steel scaffolding construction, with a skin of white gauze. The walls thus trap moisture from the air, which is then collected in the water container. The white gauze cloths together form one pixel cloud or a large layer of floating cloud made up of blocks. So you literally walk with your head in the clouds. The big eyecatcher is the 6 meter high waterfall that makes visitors realize how high the sea level in that place actually is.

A wide program (canceled!)
NOA is more than just a pavilion. For example, there will be workshops, lectures and an own theater performance, The fairytale of Prince Alexander, place. The Powerboat Foundation makes this performance in collaboration with journalist and writer Dore van Duivenbode, which partly takes place in the pavilion. The performance starts with an audio tour through the neighborhood, which ends at the NOA pavilion where visitors meet a number of characters from the audio tour in person. The tour is based on residents' stories about their past, their present and the possible future in the neighborhood.
