Jan Adriaans, 'Swarming Chants', at V2_

Swarming Chants is based on sound recordings of football fans from different parts of Europe. This work investigates how football songs spontaneously burst out during competitions and grow into a collective singing voice, without a specific body or epicenter. Jan Adriaans sees this in connection with 'swarm intelligence', the group behavior that can also be seen with a flock of birds or a school of fish. Characteristic is the unconscious process in which the behavior of the individual becomes part of the group dynamic.
