The program of CBK Rotterdam x Off Screen:

An Unforeseen EncounterSarah Rose Guitian Nederlof (2022, 6.30 min)
Guitian Nederlof pays attention to shapes and materials that are so commonplace that most people don't notice them. In this film, the artist performs a choreography using plastic carrier bags. In her dance, the bags become objects with their own expressiveness and aesthetic value, with which she enters into an intimate relationship.

Under the Wing, Iratxe Jaio and Klaas van Gorkum, (2022, digital, 11 min)
A boy climbs over the roofs of Rotterdam during the lockdown to collect the thoughts of the people below. The film is inspired by Wim Wenders' The sky over Berlin and is a collaboration between the director and her XNUMX-year-old son, who was unable to go to school for weeks due to the pandemic.

Forces, Marta Hryniuk and Nick Thomas (2022, 16mm, 11 min)
Forces originated from both correspondence about personal experiences and thoughts during the lockdown period. Hryniuk and Thomas filmed each other in various simple tableaux in the public space. The reflects on sharing and wasting time, and on becoming detached from the natural and everyday environment.

el jardin de los espiritus, Lili Ullrich, (2022, digital, 9.50 min)
As the faceless artist moves through the landscape with a net, we learn more and more about her painfully poignant Colombian family history.

*I Declare a Thumb War**Prison with Songbirds teaser, Ewan Macbeth (2020 & 2022, digital & 35mm, 5 + 2 min)
*In a therapy session, a traumatized veteran reflects on an encounter with a boy from his past. Based on absurd propaganda photos of soldiers playing “war of thumbs” with children in countries they've invaded. ** The creators' father talks about his unjust imprisonment in an undisclosed country, and his arbitrary release. Based on a terrifying letter he sent Amnesty International, combined with an almost surreal interview with him about freedom and chance.
