10.000 Steps Art Walk on South

This edition of the 10.000 Steps Art Walk is a varied walk from Lombardijen to Zuidplein, the new heart of Zuid. We follow the art on the street, sometimes hidden such as the beautiful concrete relief (1970) by Karla Kaper in the hall of the Slinge metro station. We also visit the residential areas for street art from, for example, R-75, and in the Zuiderpark we look at the Theater place (2012) by Kamiel Verschuren who recalls the old Zuidplein theatre. Along the way, tour maker-art guide Anne-Marie Ros provides a quick explanation of the works of art and their often surprising context. We take a break at the largest picnic blanket in Rotterdam, made by textile artist Maaike Gottschal as a patchwork of donated tea towels.

The 10.000 Steps Art Walk is a great way to look at the area with different eyes, experience the city, get acquainted with art on the street and meet nice people.
