10.000 Steps Art Walk on International Women's Day

Once again this year we celebrate International Women's Day with an art walk led by art guide Anne-Marie Ros, where we put art by and with women in the spotlight. With this tradition, we bring people of all ages together to celebrate the diversity and creativity of women artists.

Take a stroll along a selection of works of art, street art and locations that make us think about creativity and resilience, and about the role and power of women in art. Special attention is paid to the imagination of women. In this way we discover the beauty in everyday spots and patterns, as a tribute to artist Lizan Freijsen (1960-2024).

The route starts at the Maas, where we encounter highlights along the way, including the new Razzia Monument by Anne Wenzel, a tribute to men who had to leave their homes while their wives stayed behind. We also look at the stately one Wilhelmina by Charlotte van Pallandt and the playful one Lost pearl by Madeleine Berkhemer. Through The Plait From Kalliopi Lemos we walk to Stationsplein Moments Contained to consider, the four-meter-high statue of a confident woman who is also vulnerable at the same time. We let our imagination run wild with the blocks constructed sculpture by Margot Zanstra, perhaps the most beautiful abstraction of a tree, and it facade relief by Loeki Metz makes us reflect on the changing city.

Afterwards there will be an opportunity to have a drink together and have a nice chat in the recently opened Bergweg station in Noord.
