OPEN CALL: AiR in Dresden 2020
Also in 2020, an artist-in-residence program offers the opportunity to a visual artist from Rotterdam to stay in Dresden for two months. This program is a joint initiative of the Goethe-Institut Niederlande, the art and culture department of the municipality of Dresden, CBK Rotterdam and the Kunsthaus Raskolnikow in Dresden. Previous residents were Esmé Valk, Mariëlle Buitendijk, Niels Post, Doris Denekamp, Sarojini Lewis, Judy van Luyk, Otto Snoek, Simon Kentgens and Ronald Bal.
The purpose of this fair is to offer the artist the opportunity to get to know the local art world, to make and deepen contacts, to exchange ideas and advice.
From 1 May to 1 July 2020 will be an apartment and studio in the C. Rockefeller Center for the Contemporary Arts in Dresden free of charge (https://www.crockefeller.org) made available. There is an allowance for living expenses and working material in the amount of
€ 1.500 per month. Moreover, the outward and return journey is reimbursed once. The grant can only be used during this period.
Artists who are registered with CBK Rotterdam can submit an application for this up to and including January 12 2020 send an e-mail to Dr. ir. Claudia Curio, culture department Goethe-Institut, firstname.lastname@example.org
Send the following in English or German:
- Your motivation for a stay in Dresden (1 A4);
- a resume with the most recent and relevant visual activities;
- documentation of your work (reference to website);
- and of course your contact details.
A jury consisting of representatives from CBK Rotterdam, Kulturamt der Stadt Dresden and Goethe-Institut will decide to whom the grant is awarded. An important part of the assessment of the submitted applications is the motivation for the stay in Dresden in relation to the professional practice of the applicant. The result will be announced by the end of February 2020.
