Parts Carel Vissers 'Mother and Child' stolen

In the night from Wednesday to Thursday, 10 and 11 October are some parts of the artwork by Carel Visser, Mother and child, stolen. It concerns some horizontal parts, the 'guard', and parts of the top. A report has been made and the theft is being investigated further. In connection with the repair work, the statue will be removed from the Westersingel later this week.

Mother and child
The expressive image with the title Mother and child by the Dutch artist Carel Visser is part of the collection of Sculpture International Rotterdam. The image was placed in 2001. It is an assembly in which all kinds of found objects and waste materials are combined into a whole that is cast in bronze. The original parts that make up the object remain recognizable, despite the fact that they have started to play a different role in the final performance.
