CBK Rotterdam X Art Rotterdam Week

During the Art Rotterdam Week (6 - 12 February 2017) the city is dominated by contemporary art and various events take place. In this week the Dolf Henkes Prize 2016 will be presented in TENT, and on the TENT 2 floor there will be a presentation about Naum Gabo made by Sculpture International Rotterdam (in collaboration with Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art). CBK Rotterdam contributes to other events with substantive support or a financial contribution.

Award ceremony during the Art Rotterdam Week
Thursday 09 / 02 / 17, 19: 00 hour
The artists Daan Botlek, Rana Hamadeh, Rory Pilgrim and Katarina Zdjelar have been nominated for the Dolf Henkes Prize 2016. The prize is awarded every two years by the Henkes Foundation to an iconic Rotterdam artist. The artists have a chance to win an amount of 12.000 euros. The exhibition with the work of the nominees takes place in TENT up to and including 26 February 2017.

Masters of Rotterdam
Exhibition at the WTC Art Gallery: 22 / 01 / 2017 - 19 / 02 / 2017
Masters of Rotterdam is an overview exhibition with work by 20 prominent contemporary Rotterdam painters, including Inge Aanstoot, Mariƫlle Buitendijk, Anuli Croon, Arie van Geest, Eva Krause, Ditty Ketting, Burgert Koonijnendijk, Peter Koole, Ralph van Meijgaard, Ton van Os, Olphaert den Otter, Ad Schouten, Simon Schrikker, Lisette Schumacher, John van 't Slot, Inez Smit, Niels Smits van Burgst, Maurice Thomassen, Eveline Visser and Co Westerik. They have been selected by an advisory committee consisting of Hugo Bongers, Anton Hoeksema (Art Office, CBK Rotterdam) and Hans Walgenbach.

RC ART AWARD
Award ceremony: 08 / 02 / 17, 18: 30 hour
Location: WTC Rotterdam
The RC Art Award is the prize for the best-presented presentation at the Rotterdam Contemporary Art Fair in the WTC. The Rotterdam Contemporary Art Fair is part of the Rotterdam Art Week. Rotterdam Contemporary itself offers special peripheral programming of tours, live music, external exhibitions, artist talks and performances. The best stand is awarded with the RC Art Award, which is supported by CBK Rotterdam.

Rotterdam Cultural Histories #10: Naum Gabo
Exhibition on the 1 floor of TENT and Witte de With: 27 / 01 / 2017 - 07 / 05 / 2017
The 10e edition of the exhibition series Rotterdam Cultural Histories is about the creation of the sculpture by Naum Gabo (1890-1977) on the Coolsingel. The sculpture is the largest constructivist artwork ever placed in public space. This edition of RCH is organized in close collaboration with Sculpture International Rotterdam.

Rotterdam Photo
Exhibition: 08 / 02 / 17 - 12 / 02 / 17
Location: Deliplein

During Art Rotterdam, Rotterdam Photo 2017 also takes place, a photography exhibition on Deliplein, near the Nederlands Fotomuseum. Sea containers are transformed into galleries with exhibitions, film screenings, activities and workshops. This year CBK Rotterdam presents two young and promising photographers who deal with the individual or the 'condition human' on Rotterdam Photo. Sophie de Vos (1992) and Stacii Samidin (1987).
