Anke Bangma new artistic director TENT Rotterdam

Anke Bangma will be the new artistic director of TENT Rotterdam from 1 October 2016. As a contemporary art curator, she has worked at the Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam in recent years. Before that she was affiliated with the Piet Zwart Institute and Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art, both in Rotterdam.

TENT Rotterdam is a platform for contemporary art in Rotterdam. It connects the art of the city with what is happening in the world around it, and through a variety of programming focuses on relevant developments within contemporary art. TENT is one of the four programs of CBK Rotterdam, the central address in Rotterdam that brings visual art, the city, artists and the public together.

Ove Lucas, director CBK Rotterdam: “With Anke Bangma, CBK Rotterdam brought in the right person to take new steps with TENT. I expect a lot from her stimulating vision of the role of contemporary artists in Rotterdam. "

Anke Bangma about her appointment at TENT: “I am very happy with this opportunity to once again play an active role in the Rotterdam art world. The groundbreaking approaches and social involvement among Rotterdam artists have always been a source of inspiration for me. TENT can stimulate artistic experimentation and show current developments against the backdrop of a city that in many respects is a mirror of our time. In addition, TENT has acquired a position as a lively meeting place for a wide and young audience. I look forward to working with a wide range of makers in that dynamic place, including the generation for whom interculturality is a natural part of today's art and culture. ”
