Winter break for the Gabo-Singers

Without title (1957), van Naum Gabo is part of the De Bijenkorf building as an architectural element. Unfortunately, the sculpture is not in the possession of the city of Rotterdam, which means that it is not possible to direct the city towards maintenance. The impasse in the negotiation of the municipality and owner of the sculpture continues, while a detailed plan for restoration has been ready for years.

Sculpture International Rotterdam feels responsible for this world-famous 26-meter-high constructivist work by the Russian-American artist, and has been offering the city a hymn or lament on the heavily neglected sculpture for almost a year now every Friday from half past five to six o'clock landmark of the Coolsingel. The list of Gabo – Singers so far is respectable: from the youth choir, wind quartet, street singers and harpist to Convoi Exceptionelle. Unfortunately, the winter months are not suitable for singers and musical instruments. The Gabo-Singers return in March 2016.
