Investment contribution: the real wild animals

Anjes Gesink photographs the 'real' wild animals of Blijdorp. Her focus is not on tigers and elephants, but on all animals that can also leave, such as birds, mice, rabbits, butterflies and bees. These are also European animals that live in the zoo, but where people do not come to Blijdorp, they are also visible in your backyard and on the street.
With this photo series, Gesink wants to emphasize that these animals are important within our own biodiversity and that they have a pleasant living environment in Blijdorp. The Diergaarde also provides good accommodation for native animals, there are nesting boxes for birds throughout the zoo and a few for bats. Blijdorp has planted all sorts of butterfly plants for butterflies, spread throughout the Diergaarde. They also propagate this to the public and I then make that visible on screen.
