Willem de Kooning at Central Station
Salon d'Autonome organizes the Artist's Day every year. This year that day is entirely devoted to painter / sculptor Willem de Kooning. Rotterdam native by birth and left for America at a young age. To grow into a world star on the art stage.
Together with the art academy that bears his name, the Salon d'Autonome this year honors this modern master of abstract expression. Posthumously honoring this artist has started with a group exhibition of Alumni and Students of the Willem de Kooning Academy. This was held from 25 April to 10 May at Rotterdam Central Station in a room that was made available by the Dutch Railways.
Entirely dedicated to Willem de Kooning, part-time students from the WdKA will autonomously hold their final exam exhibition at Perron 1. This is a new space at Central Station where the Salon d'Autonome has until the end of August. Afterwards, from Saturday 7 June to the end of June, the 4 year Fine Arts students will exhibit their final exam work in the same room on platform 1.
In collaboration with the Willem de Kooning Academy and the CBK Rotterdam, the Salon d'Autonome will continue to organize various activities during the course of this year, all in the theme of the artist Willem de Kooning.
