New art on exchange base in Scheepvaartkwartier

The existing pedestal in the Gedempte Zalmhaven, known for carrying the well-known work of art Phoenix by Kees Timmer, will be provided with new art on Wednesday afternoon 30 January by virtuoso artist Herman Lamers. The pedestal was renamed 2010 on behalf of the Center for Visual Arts (CBK) into a replacement pedestal for work by Lamers. 'Mikado', the third and for the time being final artwork can soon be admired by everyone.

Purchased by residents
The base was purchased by residents for Phoenix, who returned to its original location next to Post CS in 2010. The base remained empty. The CBK approached Lamers, who made the proposal to baptize the pedestal as a replacement pedestal for their own work. With the possibility of presenting his own varied artworks, he gives his work an extra dimension. Mikado can be viewed until October 2013 at the Gedempte Zalmhaven in Rotterdams Scheepvaartkwartier.
