The Schouwplaats is a special, new sculpture garden in the Zuiderpark and consists of, among other things, wall and façade plastics that were once part of De Groote Schouwburg (now: Theater Zuidplein), a monumental building designed by architect Sybold Van Ravensteijn in 1954. These images are now used as part of a new work of art, a spatial sculpture designed by the Rotterdam artist Kamiel Verschuren and commissioned by the Charlois district and the Center for Visual Arts.
De Schouwplaats was festively opened on 5 October. Cellist / composer Paul de Jong provides a special music performance. Location: Zuiderpark Rotterdam theme gardens (between Groene Kruisweg and Zuiderparkweg, under the allotment garden complex of Volkstuinvereniging 'De Zandweg' on Kromme Zandweg 66A).
